We are seeking a dynamic individual to fill the role of Youth Navigator. The Youth Navigator will be responsible for coordinating the care of clients at risk for suicide, providing case management-based services (directly or through referral) necessary to ensure the client care is coordinated with local crisis services providers, community health providers, youth and family serving organizations, inpatient mental health treatment facilities, health care providers, and/or appropriate community agencies. This position will provide support to clients located in Kennebec and Somerset Counties.

The ideal candidate would:

  • Identify, maintain and utilize knowledge of community resources for youth and families at risk of suicide.
  • Assess Youths’ levels of suicide risk using the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS).
  • Develop referral networks that include local crisis service providers; community mental health providers; youth and family serving organizations; inpatient mental health treatment; and health care providers.
  • Engage schools and youth serving organizations to raise awareness regarding available services which mitigate the risks of Suicide.
  • Provide contact and follow-up support to Youth and families returning to the community following Emergency Department or inpatient hospitalization related to a Suicide attempt or Suicidal crisis.
  • Collaborate with Youth and caregivers to develop Collaborative Safety Plans that identify internal and external supports and resources.
  • Be detail-oriented with good organizational and time management skills.
  • Have the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Have experience working on a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Be proficient with the use of a computer and job-specific software applications.

Education/Experience requirements:

  • Minimum of an Associate’s degree in a related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mental health or counseling preferred.
  • Upon hire, candidates will receive training to be certified as a MHRT-CSP. Training for the MHRT-CSP includes an 8-12 week, paid training period with a combination of class time and job shadowing/hands on experience.
  • Experience working in behavioral health is preferred, but not required.

This is a part-time, 20 hours/week, position with the ability to become full-time. Hours are flexible. If interested in the full-time duties, feel free to reach out.


This position will be based out of our main office, which is located in Augusta, ME.

Pay rate:

This is an hourly/non-exempt position. The pay ranges between $18-$19/hour.
